Special Retreat
East Rhidorroch Retreat
Join us on this epic five night retreat where you will fully immerse yourself in the breathtaking beauty and tranquility of the surrounding area.
Ullapool is somewhere very close to my heart, I have spent a lot of time there over the years, having lived on a boat in the harbour, running sailing charters around the Summer Isles. I completely fell in love with the community and landscape around Ullapool and further North. It has always been a mission of mine to set up a retreat here and I now have the perfect location for 2025 - read more about the hidden gem where we'll be staying...East Rhidorroch.
On this longer retreat you have time to explore, venture out on some thrilling adventures, and experience the serene wilderness of Iona and Jullian's lodge, complete with its wood-fired sauna.
Kayaking and mackerel fishing around the picturesque Summer Isles will give you a true taste of the sea, while the nearby mountains offer stunning hikes right from the doorstep of the lodge. For those who love a dip in the wild, the swim spots here are some of Scotland’s most spectacular.
Much like my own family home, this place exudes a rustic charm that will make you feel right at home. Staying at Iona and Jullian's working croft, you’ll be inspired by the simplicity and authenticity of their lifestyle, and before you know it, you’ll be as captivated by the area as I was. It’s an expansive playground for us all to enjoy and experience the magic of the land in its purest form.
*Please note that although the location is essentially off-grid we will be visiting Ullapool village a couple of times over the stay where you can get signal and Wifi if you need to connect to the outside world!

Where you'll stay
East Rhidorroch Lodge
The Lodge is set in spectacular scenery and accommodates up to 11 people.
The Lodge was built in 1926 and has kept its original character. It has a sitting room and a large game room, with a billiard table and wood burning stove, decorated in the style of a traditional Scottish lodge. The kitchen is spacious with a dinning room beside it. There is a lovely open veranda at the front of the house to watch wildlife and sunsets.
Set amongst some of Scotland's most remote munros with a river perfect for swimming right outside the lodge and access to a hand made wood fired sauna all weekend! This is definitely a place to switch off from the noise and pressures of life and fully immerse yourself in a weekend of adventure and fun with a special group!
If you would like your own room for £150 extra then just let me know in advance.
Finer details...
Guests enjoy a daily delicious and nutritious menu to revive and restore, setting them up for the day’s activities, with relaxing evenings and warming drinks by the fire.
There is a big emphasis on warming hearty meals, local and seasonal produce and fresh seafood including hand dived scallops by Yaz. Hannah's fermented pancakes on Sunday morning are the best and you'll have the opportunity to cook your own line caught mackerel over the fire in the evening. Any meat will be from Iona and Jullian's farm and vegetables grown by Hannah on her land and Yaz's family croft in Glenlivet.
All dietary requirements can be catered for - just let us know in advance.
Activities are always optional, and with a full team on hand at all times, guests can to dip in and out, spend time in company, or enjoy some quiet time alone with a book.
We recommend the following:
- Movement - sports kit and trainers. You will be able to dry things but best to have extra sports kit if possible. Hiking boots if you feel more comfortable in them for a walk but not essential- I am always in my trail runners.
- Waterproofs and warm layers!!
- Swim kit and towel for some cold water dooking - it could be useful to bring booties or crocs.
- Yoga/Pilates - Sarah and Eve bring all that you need, however if you are attached to a matt then by all means bring it. Same applies to a nice blanket and then comfy clothes for yoga.
"I loved that this wasn't a retreat with a lot of sitting about (though you are absolutely free to do that if that's what you want to do!) and, after embracing every activity on offer, I felt so energised! "
