From Broadford we have direct access to the sea and mountains, and also remain conveniently close to a few local shops and the best coffee shop around -  Lean to Coffee . We'll be sure to visit the beautiful The Selkie Collective - a local store opened by our host Emma her friend Amy, selling lots of local, yummy treats.

Kit List

We recommend the following:

  • Movement - sports kit and trainers. You will be able to dry things but best to have extra sports kit if possible. Hiking boots if you feel more comfortable in them for a walk but not essential-  I am always in my trail runners.
  • Waterproofs and warm layers!!
  • Swim kit and towel for some cold water dooking - it could be useful to bring booties or crocs.
  • Yoga/Pilates - Sarah and Eve bring all that you need, however if you are attached to a matt then by all means bring it. Same applies to a nice blanket and then comfy clothes for yoga.

"I loved that this wasn't a retreat with a lot of sitting about (though you are absolutely free to do that if that's what you want to do!) and, after embracing every activity on offer, I felt so energised! "

Introducing Ben and Emma

Emma and Ben made their way back to Skye in 2014, ready to start a new chapter with their first baby. For Emma, it was a homecoming—she grew up on the island, and they’ve now returned to her family’s croft to put down roots. Both spent years living abroad: Ben as a diving instructor in places like Thailand, the Philippines, and Oman, and Emma working in outdoor centers across Japan, Oman, and New Zealand.

Now, they’re creating a life in Skye. Ben, with a passion for sustainable building, has built the island’s first Hemp House and Cabin, focusing on eco-friendly, breathable structures. Meanwhile, Emma has teamed up with her friend Amy to open The Selkie Collective, Skye’s first sustainable refill shop. On their croft, Emma and Ben are focused on rewilding, planting trees, and boosting biodiversity—bringing their love for the environment right to their own backyard.

Laura McGuire, founder of Mara Adventures, is a somatic yoga teacher, scuba instructor, Oxygen Advantage breathwork coach and a freediving instructor and athlete. She brings a huge breadth of knowledge, know-how and experience to the table. She has worked underwater for the last 14 years, leading expeditions and teaching diving all over the world. She teaches freediving courses throughout Scotland but mostly from Oban and Easdale Island and runs life affirming expeditions, adventures and retreats. She firmly believes in training her own diving and practise and this year represented GB on the national team at the freediving pool World Championships.
